Fender パーツ Tremolo Assembly, Import Jaguar®/Jazzmaster® Models, Chrome

There are slight differences in the AVRI version and this Japanese trem assembly. However, in functionality when set up correctly, there is practically no difference. Locking mechanism works as it should. As is the case with these tremolo units, you need a bit of know-how in order to set them up correctly. Do some research on proper set-up. I have both versions, one in my Fender Jazzmaster and this one on my Squier VM Jaguar. The only real difference with these two units is the selling price: this being $40 - 50 less than the AVRI. Also, the Squier Vibrato Arm fits it like a glove. If you don't want the common problem of these arms falling out of these units, install it and never take it out. Otherwise, the collet that keeps the arm in place wears out when the arm is taken out repeatedly. Believe me, it will fit in the case just fine. So don't believe the AVRI snobs out there – this unit is just as good.
I bought this to replace the factory trem on my Fender Player Series Jaguar. The stocl one was fine but didn't have the locking button. Why on earth Fender and Squier guitars sometimes miss that essential feature off these trem units is beyond me. If I'd spotted that detail before buying my Jag I would have passed it over out of sheer annoyance. This trem is fine and has the locking button but the travel on the button only allows it to lock by the very tiniest one or two millimetre margin. Another two or three millimetres would make the locking more reliable. Next time I change strings I will file the lock button slot to make it a fraction longer but I shouldn't have to.Still, It works fine and overall I'm satisfied.
